It’s time the English said ‘Goodbye’ and ‘Farewell’ to Scotland.
The Scottish poet said: “I want to live in a proper country.’ And who can contradict her? In the end, no one should be denied the chance to live in a ‘proper country’.
The Scottish poet – with her love of nature, of landscape and a shared psyche – echoes the deep feelings expressed by Jacques Brel in his wonderful ‘Le plat pays’ or the depth of mood in Walt Whitman’s gorgeous ‘Leaves of grass’.
Good luck, Scotland.
